Jan Zwerner Memorial Scholarship
The Vigo County Education Foundation is proud to offer the Jan Zwerner Memorial Scholarship. Jane Ann “Jan” Zwerner was the main office secretary at Terre Haute North High School for more than 20 years. Early in her career, Jan was an elementary school teacher, but she was best known for her many years as the heart and voice of Terre Haute North.
During her time at THN, she handled the school public address system and made all of the daily announcements. She truly was the voice of the Patriots. Jan was a friend, confidante, and supporter to many of the students. She worked hard to know as many students as possible. She took an interest in their lives, dreams, and goals. She was especially close to her student office workers.
Jan was a voracious reader and an avid gardener. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed following the Drama Club at THN. She never missed one of their annual productions.
The Jan Zwerner Memorial Scholarship has been established by her family to preserve her memory at the school she loved. The scholarship is a $2,000 award open to Terre Haute North senior student office workers, senior participants of the THN Drama Club and/or senior participants of THN drama productions.
